Salgaocar FC coach Derrick Pereira stated that his side may have been a bit "rusty" after a two week break between their first and second game in the I-League 2013-14 season.

"It was a good win for us (beating Mohammedan Sporting). Maybe we were a bit rusty because of the long gap we had, but I'm happy that we created a lot of chances. We could have done better in the finishing, but I am happy with the three points," the Goan team's gaffer stated.

Having registered a 1-0 victory over Churchill Brothers in their opening game, Salgaocar scored thrice past Mohammedan Sporting on the weekend.

"The previous match was the first match in which [Darryl] Duffy and Claude [Gnakpa] were playing together. They had some injuries in the week. I'm happy that they recovered. I was a little worried about that because we are playing Dempo [on Wednesday] and the recovery period is very less.

"Every match is tough," Pereira added. "All teams have good quality players. On the day of the match it depends how you perform and how fit you are to go all the way.”

The Salgaocar tactician didn't make any changes to his starting line-up and explained that it was the best combination available at his disposal.

"I think this is the best combination we have so far and we will keep continuing with it. Maybe there will be one or two changes as we need to rest some players. As we keep playing together, we develop the understanding."

"I'm happy with the whole team’s performance. We played compact in defense. There were times where we needed to prove our shape and sharpness in defense," he mentioned.
