Sporting Clube de Goa have picked just a point from their first two matches in the I-League season 2013-14, with a 1-1 draw against Mumbai FC which was followed with a 3-1 loss to United SC. The fixture list too hasn’t come much to their aid as they have had to travel foor their first three games of the season.
The Flaming Oranje coach, Oscar Bruzon Barreras however claimed that his side are "very motivated" ahead of their away fixture against Shillong Lajong FC on Saturday.
"Actually, after the two games without a win, we want to react fast. Despite losing [against United SC], we were playing very well in our game. But [we were] missing a lot of chances in the last third," the 36-year-old mentioned to Goal.
"We are preparing for the game against Shillong [Lajong], trying to play a little bit more vertical and making use of the chances," he continued.
Bruzon revealed that he will be looking to make a few changes to his starting eleven while expecting Shillong Lajong to come hard at his team.
"I am going to make some modifications in the line-up. Shillong [Lajong] is going to be a strong team. They will press a lot and push to be a tough team. So the game plan is to put off their strong points and to put up our strong points," he said.
"We are going to make some changes. This is again for experience and to find our strong players. All of us are really convinced that we're going to take three points, especially because in the next weekend, we are the team that are resting. So it's very important for us to take the three points, work for the next 15 days and then slowly working our way up the table."
The Sporting Goa tactician stressed that his team cannot afford to miss any more chances in front of the goal.
"I am very happy with how we are playing. We are playing the same game that we are playing in the Goa Pro League, but this is the I-League. So mistakes here are very expensive. We cannot afford to miss so many chances," warned Bruzon.
