Top and Flop: Churchill Brothers SC 0-1 Salgaocar FC

Join Goal in saluting another player worthy of recognition as Salgaocar FC started their campaign on a positive note...
Welcome to Goal's new I-League feature: Top and Flop. For every game, a candidate will be put forward, as chosen by Goal, who deserves recognition for achieving something special. It won't necessarily be the best player in the league - but whoever we nominate will have done something amazing. In the same vein, we will also name a player whose performance wasn’t up to the mark on the given day and eventually came to hurt his side.

He was the first to test Arindam Bhattacharya in the 27th minute from distance. He provided a through-ball for Darryl Duffy in the very next minute, although the Churchill Brothers goalkeeper blocked the Scot’s attempt. Eventually the deadlock was broken when Dias’ shot forced an error from the Churchill custodian which led to the only goal of the game as Duffy was at hand to slot the ball home.

Although he made a couple of saves in the first half hour, it was his mistake which allowed Duffy to score. He failed to collect the ball from a Clifton Dias shot by spilling it in the path of Duffy who did the needful.
