The Goan club hopes to make a mark this term after a campaign where they had to shuffle a lot in order to avoid going down...
Salgaocar FC face Churchill Brothers in the I-League opening clash and club president Shivanand Salgaocar has outlined his aims for the season.
The Goan side began their I-League campaign by going down to United Sikkim and thereafter could only register a point against Shillong Lajong. Coach Karim Bencherifa left for Mohun Bagan and it was only after the signings made by David Booth in the January transfer window that the club managed to stay up.
Over the summer, they have roped in Derrick Pereira as their head coach hoping that their former player would lead the side back to glory.
“We have a young side who is willing to take up the challenge of the I-League and we hope to feature within the first 3 spots,” Salgaocar told The Navhind Times.
“With Derrick taking over as the coach, the youth will get a better opportunity and we hope to build a strong side in a couple of years.”
