Despite not being able to attract a sponsor, United SC will start their pre-season training under the tutelage of coach Eelco Schattorie on Wednesday.

While most of the clubs began their preparations for the 2013-14 season as early as the first week of July, United SC would have a lot of catching up to do.

“It is truly a historic initiative of the players. The coach came and the players asked him as to when the practice was to begin. Buoyed with their zest for the training to begin, we will have our first training session on Wednesday,” club official Siddhartha Bhattacharya told GOAL.

While Ranti Martins is yet to commit his future to the club, he has assured to clear his motives in a couple of days.

“Eric Brown and Bello Rassaq are also in Kolkata and will attend the practice session. We haven’t paid an advance to any players but still they are keen to kick-start our season,” Bhattacharya added.

With the chit fund scam hitting West Bengal, United SC’s sponsor – Prayag Group  - has opted not to finance the club this time around.

“I am in talks with several companies and hopefully, I can seal a couple of deals before the season starts,” Bhattacharya remained hopeful.
