Economic uncertainty threatens a couple of clubs from Kolkata as they haven't been able to pay the dues...
A pall of gloom seems to have descended on the thresholds of Mohun Bagan and United SC, with both teams suffering immensely due to the financial chokehold which has resulted due to sponsors shunning the teams away.
Mohun Bagan have found it difficult to even disburse the players’ salaries from last season while United SC continue their search for a sponsor.
“The Bagan officials have said that as soon as they find a co-sponsor, they will pay all our dues. But it is really frustrating,”said a Bagan player, to The Telegraph, who seems to be only one of a troupe of players who took their plight to the corridors of the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
Meanwhile, it has also been revealed by the director of United SC, Siddharth Bhattacharya, that the team plan to continue with their pre-season training camp at Kalyani with coach Eelco Schattorie already in Kolkata.
