Dipendu Biswas, having endured a poor campaign last term with Mohun Bagan, wants to put his best foot forward in the 2013-14 season with Mohammedan Sporting who have shown confidence in his ability.
“I didn’t get to play much for Mohun Bagan last season… It’s not that I was unfit, it wasn’t my fault,” he told The Telegraph.
“In fact, I have been practising with my local club regularly for the last few days to maintain my fitness. I believe I’m still capable as a footballer and I’m honoured that Mohammedan Sporting has kept faith in me this season,” he added.
Biswas had his first training session under Abdul Aziz and was impressed by the Nigerian’s methods.
Though it was just the first day, there seemed to be a good rapport between Dipendu and coach Moshood.
“The coach’s pre-season training appears to be quite good. Every coach has his own style and so it is not fair comparing one with the other,” Dipendu said.
Aziz acknowledged that the player needs time to get back to optimum fitness but hoped that he shall soon get into the groove soon.
“He (Dipendu) is an experienced player. He has just come into the side and so will need some time.
“But that he is still going strong as a professional should be a lesson for others.”
