Mohammedan Sporting Club have announced that it will be Kerala born defender and ex-Mohun Bagan left-back Dhanarajan who will lead the squad as captain in the 2013-14 season while Ashim Biswas has been named as the vice-captain.
“I am really happy. At the same time, I am a bit nervous. It is a big responsibility. I know that there will be a lot of expectations… And I hope that we can deliver,” a visibly jubilant Dhanarajan announced, at the unveiling, to The Telegraph.
“As a senior player of the team, I had a lot of responsibility... Now the responsibility has doubled, so I am really tensed,” quoted elucidated Dhanrajan to the The Times of India, who had also previously played for United SC.
The presentation ensued after the coach, Abdul Aziz Moshood, had a private session with the players, explaining to them what he expected of them on the pitch, which included training techniques and strategies to be adopted.
Mashood seemed really happy with his choice of captain for his side and expunged any uneasiness regarding his appointment in revealing to The Telegraph, “He learns quickly. He responds to the challenges and I am really impressed with him.”
The Kolkata based club have a dazzling line up and have snapped up Luciano Sabrosa, Penn Orji, Joshimar d'Silva and Tolgay Ozbey in a bid to bring glory to the club as this is their first time back in the I-League after their 2009 adventure.
Joshimar hoped that this pairing with Tolgay would be a successful at the Black and White brigade after linking up with the squad for pre-season with Penn Orji.
