The Jovel Martins saga is far from over as Pune FC plan to take the matter up with All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) Player Status Committee.
The left footer from Curtolim, South Goa, extended his deal with Sporting Clube de Goa after helping them finish sixth on the I-League table last term. He even took an advance of Rs.4 lakhs from the Goan club.
However at the same time, Martins went on to sign a three-year deal with Pune FC when the transfer window opened last month.
While Jovel mentioned of being “allowed” by Pune FC to continue with Sporting Clube de Goa after he acknowledged his mistake, the I-League runners-up have refused to confirm the same.
“We will report the matter to AIFF’s Players Status Committee. We haven’t released him as he signed for us. We were later informed that he has also signed an extension with Sporting,” Chirag Tanna, Pune FC’s Head of Operations informed Goal.
Martins could face suspension and pay a hefty fine if found guilty by the Players Status Committee.
