The fledging club are on a signing spree with three more players added to their roster...
While Gurtej was a free agent with short year-long spells at Pailan Arrows and Churchill Brothers, Colaco had an impressive season with Sporting Clube de Goa last season whereas local lad Shankar S had tested waters with a stint at Pailan and a short loan spell at Pune based team DSK Shivajians thereafter.
“This is a great opportunity for a youngster like me and I am going to give it everything. It’s nice to see football come to Bangalore in a big way and to be able to play a part in it is exciting for me,” said an elated Shankar who had also been part of the Indian U-19 squad and a former member of the now relegated Bangalore based side, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) .
“It would be fair to say that Bruno turned Sporting Clube’s season around with some impressive performances under the post. For a youngster, he handled pressure really well. He has quick feet too and we thought of him as a valuable addition to our squad,” assistant coach Pradhyum Reddy told The Times of India.
“Coach Ashley Westwood has been a centre- back himself and Gurtej could surely benefit playing under him. As for Shankar, he is a player with tremendous potential and is surely one to look out for,” elucidated Reddy who believes that Gurtej will want to perform at his premium best, especially after not getting the opportunities he craved for at Churchill.
It’s not just the coaches but also the young troika who are excited and thrilled at such a chance. “Sporting Clube was a nice challenge and this chance is going to be a bigger challenge that I am looking forward to,” says Colaco.
