Mumbai FC have completed the signing of Anwar Ali from United Sikkim FC, who got relegated after their maiden stint in the I-League.
The defender had scored two goals in his 23 appearances last season and gave a decent account of himself after having had a forgettable stint with Mohun Bagan in the past.
"Yes, we have signed Anwar. He will be a good addition and shall strengthen our defense," Atul Badgamia, deputy vice-president of Mumbai FC, talking to GOAL, confirmed the capture of the 28-year-old Punjab stalwart.
Badgamia also disclosed that Climax Lawrence is in talks with the club, while the former Dempo SC skipper's move to the Mumbai-based club could be completed by the weekend.
"We are in talks with Climax Lawrence. We expect to complete the signing by the end of this week. Our coach (Khalid Jamil) is in touch with him," he affirmed.
It has been reliably learnt that Climax had an offer from IMG-Reliance, but the Goan is in favour of sealing a two-year deal with Jamil's side.
