Five more players have pledged their allegiance to Indian FA’s commercial and marketing partners’ new initiative…
Former Mahindra United trio of Sukhwinder Singh, Mohammed Rafi and Sushant Matthew are the latest to join IMG-Reliance’s posse.
With the I-League clubs refusing to release players for All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) marketing and commercial partners’ IPL-style league, IMG-Reliance are busy signing players who aren’t contracted by the top tier teams.
“Yes, I have signed with IMG-Reliance for their league. It’s a year long contract,” Rafi, who last plied trade for Mumbai Tigers, informed Goal.
Sukhwinder Singh had a stop-start campaign with Pune FC last year with the highlight being his goal against Dempo SC in the 2-0 win. Matthew was roped in Mohun Bagan coach Karim Bencherifa to strengthen the squad in January this year but he made only four appearances in the I-League.
According to sources close to Goal, Mohun Bagan’s Lalrinfela and Prayag United’s Arindam Ghosh too have signed on the dotted line with IMG-Reliance.
