Rehenesh, who seemed to be on his way to Rangdajied, has decided on a move to Bimal Ghosh's side, while Durga Boro and Bikash Jairu have had their contracts extended by the Tigers
Mumbai Tigers have continued their strong signing spree of recent days, as they nipped ahead of Rangdajied, to secure former ONGC custodian T.P Rehenesh, on a one-year deal, Goal can reveal.
Rehenesh looked set to follow Santosh Kashyap from his old club to Rangdajied, but Bimal Ghosh’s side managed to convince the goalkeeper to choose a move to Mumbai instead.
The former Chirag United Kerala goalkeeper had a stellar season last time around, being a vital part of the side that shone so brightly under Kashyap’s tutelage.
The player even made Goal’s list of top three custodians in the I-League, at the end of the season. Hence it was no surprise when a clutch of clubs battled for his signature for next campaign.
Mumbai Tigers though, managed to lure him to the club, as the player was attracted by the overall project and long-term plan of the club.
Rehenesh confirmed to Goal that he had signed with Bimal Ghosh’s side, and mentioned, “Yes, I have signed up with Mumbai Tigers. It is a one year deal.”
The club has also handed a new contract to former Churchill Brothers forward Durga Boro and midfielder Bikash Jairu, both of whom were a part of their division 2 campaign last season, as they look to build a competitive squad for the coming season.
