Mumbai Tigers have finally started their recruitment for next season, as they look to seal a deal for the former Air India duo of Royston D'souza and Rahul Bheke.
Goal understands that the club has held extensive talks with the two players, both of whom are set to agree to ink a one year contract.
Royston D'souza, who broke through at Air India two seasons ago, showing plenty of promise as an attacking midfielder, had a disappointing campaign with Salgaocar FC, not getting enough opportunities to prove himself.
However the player still remains one of the more promising young midfielders in the country, and has attracted interest from clubs like Rangdajied and Mohammedan Sporting.
Speaking to Goal, the former Salgaocar player conceded, “Yes, I have held talks with Mumbai Tigers. They have been very positive, but I haven’t signed yet.”
The deal though, is likely to be completed in the coming week, and Royston will be joined at the Mumbai based club by Air India’s Rahul Bheke, Goal can reveal.
The defender was an integral part of the Airmen’s first eleven last season, making 23 appearances in the I-League. However he was unable to prevent Air India from being relegated, while the club’s eventual expulsion from the league, for not fulfilling AFC norms, meant that the player was searching for a new club.
Bheke would add good depth to Bimal Ghosh’s side, while Loukik Jadhav, who was a part of their squad's division two campaign last season, has also been retained, as Mumbai Tigers look to pick up the best of the remaining bunch, having entered the transfer window well after their rivals.
