With the reliable custodian moving to Derrick Pereira's side, Churchill Brothers are all set to double their efforts in bringing Arindam Bhattacharya back to the club...In what might be a further set-back to Churchill Brothers’ hopes for next season, their reliable custodian, Felix Dsouza, who was an able deputy to Sandip Nandy last season, has decided to move to Salgaocar FC for the next campaign.
With Nandy having returned to Kolkata, it means the Red Machines will be looking for a new set of goalkeepers for next season.
Speaking to Goal, Felix revealed, “I got a good offer from Salgaocar and now I am with them.”
Competition for places though, is expected to be tough at Salgaocar, with Derrick Pereira’s side having established Indian International Karanjit Singh as their first choice. Felix though is unfazed, and stated, “I enjoy my football, no matter what. I know it will be tough at Salgaocar. Nothing is guaranteed in this world. I will work hard and do my job. Rest is in God’s hands.”
Felix’s move to the club raises a question mark on the future of Pawan Kumar, who was in any case a peripheral figure for Salgaocar last season.
Churchill meanwhile are expected to double their efforts in bringing Arindam Bhattacharya back to the club, after his rather underwhelming season with Mohun Bagan. Goal understands that the reluctance on the part of the Mariners to give the custodian a release, is holding back the Goan club from completing a deal for the player.
However with Sandip Nandy having already joined Karim Bencherifa’s side, it might only be a matter of time, before Bhattacharya returns back to the Red Machines.
