In a major boost to Mohun Bagan’s title aspirations for next season, the Kerala based duo of Wahid Sali and Rino Anto have moved to the Kolkatan outfit.
Defensive blunders were a major worry for the Mariners last season, and the capture of the two versatile defenders will strengthen their backline, as well as adding depth to the squad.
Wahid Sali, who was one of the finds of the past season and was chased by the likes of Prayag United, Mohammedan Sporting and Churchill Brothers, was ecstatic at signing with Mohun Bagan and told Goal, “Yes, I have signed with Mohun Bagan. It will be a great challenge to play and get into their starting eleven. I am looking forward to it.”
The former ONGC defender has been signed on a year long deal by the Mariners.
Utility defender Rino Anto meanwhile inked a 2-year deal with the Kolkatan side, and was glad to have joined a team with such a huge fan following.
He revealed to Goal, “Yes, I have signed with Mohun Bagan on a two year deal. Salgaocar were interested in taking me back, but I had already won the I-League with them and now I want to win more titles with Mohun Bagan.”
The defender had plied his trade for Kerala based Eagles FC last season, having had to return to his native state due to some personal problems.
