The club has let go of several of its stalwarts from last season, as they look to re-build for the coming campaign...
The Red Machines had a fabulous campaign last-time round, as they finished the season as I-League champions.
However since then, there has been a lot of changes at the club, as first Subhash Bhowmick put in his papers, with news being that Sukhwinder Singh is set to replace his as the club’s Technical Director.
Now it has emerged that the club has let go of several of its stalwarts from last season, as they look to re-build for the coming campaign.
Star performers like Sandip Nandy, Steven Dias and Tomba Singh have been released by the club, as they were either seen as being surplus to requirements or could not agree new terms with the club.
No foreigner from last season has been confirmed except Henri Antchouet, who has a year to run on his present contract, while Sunil Chhetri’s future hangs in the balance as well.
An official close to the situation told Goal, “Sandip Nandy, Steven Dias, Tomba Singh, Xavier Vijay Kumar and Gurtej Singh are amongst those who have been released by the club.”
“The club released Steven Dias and Tomba Singh, and had to let go of Nandy as his demands were too exorbitant. We are now talking to some top goalkeepers, in-order to replace him, with Subrata Paul being one of them.”
Sandip Nandy, Goal's source informed, is in talks with Mohun Bagan, and might join the Mariners, if he can agree terms with them.
