Dempo SC midfielder Godwin Franco backs new head coach Arthur Papas

The 28-year-old, who signed a three-year contract extension with the club on Thursday, feels that the Australian is the right man for Dempo...
Dempo Sports Club has revamped their squad with several new signings and releasing some of the seniors, but have extended the contracts of a few existing names, among whom one is Godwin Franco.

"First, I thank God for my re-signing with Dempo SC for three years," he told Goal while expressing happiness over his prolonged stay with the Golden Eagles.

"The Chairman (Shrinivas Dempo) is a wonderful person and very supportive to us always in every way."

Godwin also revealed that it was none other than Mr. Dempo who was making the calls over the transfers, while keeping in close touch with new head coach Arthur Papas, after the Panaji-based club bid a farewell to former gaffer Armando Colaco.

"Papas is a very good coach - a complete professional. He has the ability to get the best out of every individual player and bind them in a well knit strong attacking unit. It is great that we have him as our coach at Dempo," the former Pune FC player gave a testimonial on the Australian leader.

"I'm looking forward to the new season," he continued. "I want to give my best for our club. I will be training in Germany like I have done in the last two summers. It has helped my game a lot," Godwin signed out.
