Srinivas Dempo personally thanked Colaco for his efforts while stressing on why it was necessary to move in separate directions at the end of an ordinary season for the Goans...

Dempo SC bid their long-time coach Armando Colaco good-bye, with a farewell dinner party at a city hotel in Goa.

The event was attended by most of the players and staff of the club, who wished to give Colaco a perfect send-off.

The 5 time National League winner is out of contract at the end of this month, having been in-charge of the club since 2000. He took them from the depths of the second division and established them as a powerhouse in Indian football, with a regular in-flow of silverware.

Speaking on the occasion, Armando said that he will carry great pride and passion towards the club “It has been wonderful and unforgettable 13 years at the club and I will cherish those memories until my last breath. I was always a Dempo man and will continue to remain so” said the coach.

Mr. Colaco expressed his gratitude for the chairman Mr. Shrinivas V. Dempo, the club and its fans for supporting and believing in him at all times.

“I would like to thank Mr. Shrinivas Dempo for his support during some difficult moments of my career, especially this season when we suffered injuries to crucial players. I also thank to all the Dempo fans in India and abroad for their support and inspiration”.

Mr. Shrinivas V. Dempo acknowledged his coach’s achievements, while stressing on why it was important for a change in direction at the club. He stated, “We feel the moment has come where we need fresh Ideas with an experienced and youthful setup. Armando Colaco provided stability and success to our team, and we will always be grateful for his contributions over the last one decade. I wish him very best in the future.”

It is expected to be a summer of transition at the Goan club, with several key players from the past scheduled to leave the club, and a drastic change in club policy expected.

Dempo SC, who are looking for a new manager for the first time in the last 13 years, are linked to Pailan Arrows’ outgoing coach Arthur Papas. However no deal has yet been inked.
