Gabriel Fernandes has agreed a deal with Dempo SC as he prepares to leave Mumbai FC this summer.

The versatile forward who can ply his trade either on the right or the left hand side of attack had been in discussions all week with the Goa based club about a move.
 
In an interview with Goal, Fernandes explained his reasons for opting to leave Mumbai and shift base to Goa. Citing family issues as the primary reason for his move, the 25 year old Indian said, "Dempo is my former club. I played there as a junior. Dempo was my dream club and I am very happy. I will give my best and try to play for national team as playing for India is my top priority."

Having started out his career at Sporting Club de Goa, Fernandes has made good progress over the past season which saw manager Khalid Jamil give him plenty of opportunities to prove his worth.
 
He made 23 appearances for Jamil's side this term, scoring 4 times in the process.

"This season in Mumbai FC  was an amazing experience and definitely an unforgettable one. It was like taking my first step in the I-League and being under the guidance of the best young coach in India (Khalid Jamil) and a great players like Yusif Yakubu and Abhishek Yadav , it was a really good start for me. They treated me like younger brother and supported me in every step I took. I loved playing with them and gave 100% in every opportunity I got.''

"I believe in myself and know that I have much more to achieve. I am looking foward  for more amazing moments with Dempo SC this season. I just wish for God's grace so that I can achieve my ultimate dream of playing for India.''
