Deepak Devrani and Ravi Kumar sign-up for Sporting Clube de Goa

The Goans will hope that the duo help shore up what was a rather leaky defense last season, as they look to re-build, after seeing their lynchpin Adil Khan join the Mariners...

Having lost Adil Khan to Mohun Bagan, Sporting Clube de Goa have roped in Deepak Devrani on a one year contract, to shore up their defense for next season.

The centre-back, who was a regular at Pailan Arrows last season, was out of contract at the club, and decided to move to the Flaming Oranje for next campaign.

The 20 year-old revealed to Goal, “I have signed up with Sporting Clube de Goa on a one year contract. Since I was already a senior (at Pailan Arrows), it was (in my opinion) good chance to move out and face new challenges.”

The player mentioned that it was Oscar Bruzon’s playing philosophy and Arthur Papas’, his coach at the Pailan Arrows’ advice, that led to him signing for the Goan club, even though Mohun Bagan had made an offer for his services.

He stated, “Yes, Papas is a really good coach and he guided me. I also had an offer from Mohun Bagan.”

The centre-back also revealed that Pailan Arrows’ custodian Ravi Kumar had also signed up with the Flaming Oranje, solving one of the problem areas for the Goan club, who were looking for an option in-between the sticks, having had to rely on the relatively in-experienced Bruno Colaco as their goalkeeper last year.

Ravi Kumar was also out-of-contract with the Arrows, and will look to resurrect his career with Sporting Clube de Goa, having played second fiddle to Soram Poirei during last season.
