Denzil Franco regrets turning down Churchill Brothers offer in 2008

The India international feels that he has gained a lot after leaving his former club Salgaocar FC...
Denzil Franco terms his I-League 2012-13 victory with Churchill Brothers SC as a "dream come true" after missing out on the accolade as the right back had snubbed a deal with his current club when the Red Machines had claimed their maiden league title in 2008-09.

"I don’t know what to say, but this is a dream come true for me. I’d like to thank my well-wishers and supporters," the 27-year-old told Goal.

"I was at Salgaocar at that time (when Churchill Brothers won their maiden title). I had an offer at that time from Churchill, but I joined Salgaocar instead," he went on reveal.

Franco also admitted that he regrets to have not joined the I-League champions in 2008 as he didn't enjoy the best of fortunes at Salgaocar FC.

"I regret, I seriously regret (for not joining Churchill Brothers in 2008), because I feel if I would've been with Churchill, I don’t think I would've got the brunt what Salgaocar gave me in that year. I had signed a two-year contract and in the second year they told me that they did not want me.

He continued: "It was a very depressing moment for me, but I have gained a lot after they asked me to leave the club. I performed well with Mahindra United and Churchill Brothers has given me a lot."

"I am with Churchill. As long as Churchill wants me, I am with Churchill. I have a contract till 2015," he concluded.
