Mohun Bagan - Pune FC Preview: Derrick Pereira's side are still alive in the I-League title race

The Red Lizards would want to generate full points against Karim Bencherifa's side in their quest for a top two finish...

Nirmal, Anyichie, Aibor, Nabi;
Maithani, Denson, Snehasis;
Sabeeth, Odafa, Ozbey

Ramu, Edathodika, Wali, Gurjinder;
Tsewang, Douhou, Sukhwinder, Paite;
Moga, Boima

Mohun Bagan have proved themselves to be a tough opponent following their 10-match unbeaten streak that was brought to an end by Churchill Brothers SC in the last match, which I-League title contenders won convincingly with a score line of 2-0.

Defensive frailties were more than evident in the Mariners last defeat, but the home team will be strengthened by the return of regular stopper-back Echezona Anyichie, which might allow the forward line to operate more fluently.

Pune FC with 43 points, on the other-hand, will still keep their hopes to land the title as Churchill Brothers (51) still need a point from two matches to claim the prize.

Derrick Pereira's outfit are currently tied on points with East Bengal, and will at least look for a second place finish, for which Pune FC need to earn at least a point more than the Red and Gold by the end of this season's campaign.

Mohun Bagan: Karim Bencherifa will have a full strength squad to choose from, with defender Echezona Anyichie returning from suspension, which would probably force Quinton Jacobs to start on the bench

Pune FC: The away side welcome defender Chika Wali from suspension and midfielder Karma Tsewang to match fitness among a few expected changed for the match.

  • From their 12 matches after being re-instated in the league, Mohun Bagan have won six times and drawn four matches from 12 outings.
  • Eight of those I-League games were at Kalyani, where Mohun Bagan have picked up 5 wins and 2 draws and scored 18 times.
  • Pune FC have been the best travelers this season picking up the most wins (9) and points (27) than any other team.
  • Pune FC have an inferior head-to-head record against both Churchill Brothers and East Bengal, who are above them in the present standings.
