thumbnail Hello,

The Englishman already seems to be weighing his options after turning the tides at Salgaocar Football Club...

Salgaocar FC head coach David Booth has stated that he will not remain with the his current team next season after turning the fortunes of the Goan side since taking over the reigns from former coach Karim Bencherifa.

The Green and Whites endured one of their worst starts this season and at the end of the first half of the campaign, they were among the favourites to get relegated. However some good signings in the winter transfer window saw them get out of the relegation mire and have been undefeated in their last four outings.

On being asked whether the Goan club will aim to win the league title next season, Booth announced that he won't be at the helm next season and wished them all the luck for future.

"I don't know (if Salgaocar will be one of the front-runners). I won't be here," he said.

"They (Salgaocar) told me that they can't keep me. I've got some interested teams," he added. "But nothing concrete at the moment. I'll be going on a holiday. I won't be here after that, so good luck to them."

Asked whether the 64-year-old would consider joining another another I-League outfit after enjoying successful stints with Mahindra United and Mumbai FC, Booth replied, "I have worked all over the world so I'm prepared to go anywhere. I've got a lot of contacts."

Booth was questioned on what position would the club aim to now in the current season and he quipped,"I don't know. I have no idea, maybe I'm not here for the next few games."

In arguably their best performance in the league, Salgaocar FC handed United Sikkim FC a footballing lesson on Saturday, as they thrashed them 9-0.

"Nobody expected that [result]. These things do not happen often. So we have to take it in our stride. The good thing is that we didn't concede a goal again - that's four games in a row now. So we have to be happy," Booth signed off.
