The Mumbai FC coach was happy with the performance put up by his side against Air India, but also regretted the missed chances...

Mumbai FC returned to winning ways, with a comprehensive 3-1 win over Air India, in the Mumbai Derby on Sunday.

Their coach, Khalid Jamil, predictably was in a jovial mood at the end of the game. He was happy with the result but conceded that there's still room for improvement. "If we would have pushed, and we would have finished (more of our chances), we would have even more confidence today (after the game). I am happy though. We have got three points after a long time."

“So, yes, everything is okay, getting the job done (was important), but we must still improve," he further added.

Gabriel Fernandez was the hero for the home side, setting up all the three goals with three sublime crosses. The former Indian International proudly pointed out how improved the player’s performances have been, since he joined Mumbai FC. He mentioned, "It can be seen (the improvement in his game). He created all the three goals for our side. He was the Man of the Match.“

Mumbai FC had ND Opara missing from the squad, while Haroon Amiri started upfront and later was shifted into the defense. Jamil explained the tactical changes further claiming that Opara's exclusion was due to personal problems.

"That's a personal reason. There was a problem (with Opara). Amiri is very important. He is fast, so we wanted him there (upfront at the start)."

The Mumbai based club have been criticized for their playing style in recent times, but they convincingly defeated their city rivals. After being questioned if the victory was a answer to their detractors, he claimed. "Yeah we play good football in every match. You can just say that we were unlucky (in earlier games). There has not been a game in which we haven't dominated, (just that) this one was better."
