'The players should start playing for themselves' - Air India coach Naushad Moosa

Air India are one of two clubs who will not be there to see the dawn of I-League 2013-14 along with ONGC FC due to their non-compliance with the Asian Football Confederation (AFC)'s licensing criteria. The club are looking towards a disappointing end to the season as they slumped to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Churchill Brothers at the Duler Stadium in Goa.Air India coach Naushad Moosa was honest in his opinion of the game.
“The two goals really demoralized the players. The referee killed the game. I do not think that was a penalty (which Beto scored). The referee on the sidlelines wasn't in line with the players with regards to Henry (Antchouet's first goal) goal. We were never on par with the opposition players. We created more chances but it would be kind of an excuse to blame it on referee mistakes and offsides," said the coach in the post-match conference.
Moosa was asked about his experience with Air India ever since he made the step up to senior team coach after he spent close to five years as youth coach of Mumbai FC.
"Any profession you need to take a risk and a chance. The team is shaping up. They were playing more direct football and now they are holding onto the ball. They should settle down within one or two matches," observed Moosa.
The gaffer lamented over the lack of time to prepare for the Airmen's next game against East Bengal as he felt that fitness of the players would be an issue.
With Air India certain to not be there in next year's I-League, it is definitely a hit on the morale of the players at the club.
“It is very difficult to motivate players. I tell them to give their best for their futures so that some good clubs like Churchill or East Bengal pick them up. A good offer may come. Opportunities are endless and they just have to work hard. If they start playing for themselves, team and I benefit," signed off Moosa.
