The 19-year old, who was fast-tracked into the first team by former coach Philippe de Ridder, now has a chance to show Chinese League One clubs his worth....
League One is just a division below the well-known Chinese Super League. It was learnt by The Times of India through United Sikkim FC Director and former coach Phillipe de Ridder, that two Chinese League One clubs are interested in Jhingan and if all goes well the 19-year old will be in China by the end of the month.
The Chandigarh lad was in Wim Koevermans' stand by list for the game against Palestine which India lost 2-4 on Wednesday.
"There are many talented players and they need exposure. As football director, I am trying to ensure that. Sandesh is a good player," said De Ridder to The Times of India, who will travel with Jhingan to China.
The Belgian coach can take credit in Jhingan's success as he ensured that the youngster got regular first-team action when the club were in the Second Division.
United Sikkim co-owner Bhaichung Bhutia was no doubt ecstatic over the news of Sandesh's trials. "This is definitely great news. I have been saying from even before the I-League started that there are many talented players in the squad," the former India captain said.
Bhaichung also mentioned that the club were willing to release Sandesh in case the latter is successful in his Chinese adventure.
