Mohun Bagan supporters had some reason to cheer, as the All India Football Federation's (AIFF) Disciplinary Committee has decided to only extend the ban imposed on club captain, Odafa Okolie by one more match, making it a total of three matches. Out of that, the Mariners have already played one match, which ended in a 0-2 defeat against Salgaocar.
The Committee reviewed all the documents, the video of the I-League match between East Bengal and Mohun Bagan (played on December 9, 2012) and interrogated Mr. Odafa Okolie, who was present in the hearing.
After taking into consideration an unconditional apology from Mr. Okolie, the Committee imposed an additional one-match ban (in I-League 2012/13) and also imposed a fine of Rs. 1,50,000 on the Mohun Bagan player.
Thus, that Odafa can return to the field and will be in action, after Mohun Bagan have played their two I-League matches this week.
