thumbnail Hello,

The Goan has admitted that defeating the Red and Gold in their own backyard will relieve the Red Machines of some pressure in their title race...

One of Churchill Brothers SC's defeats, besides their 2-1 loss to Dempo SC in round 1 of the I-League, saw Mariano Dias' side crumble to East Bengal who emerged 3-0 winners in a round 6 match.

"We are on top and we want to remain there," expressed the Goan team's coach. "Every match we are going in with the pressure to remain there. We have to win every match. It happens...in football it is like that.

"Pune [FC], Dempo [SC] and East Bengal are not many points behind. They (East Bengal) have beaten us in the home match so we have to beat them in our away match."

Dias also admitted that his side were under pressure to win their last match in which they were made to work hard by United Sikkim, although Churchill Brothers did win the match 2-1 eventually.

"We wanted to win against them (USFC) after drawing against them in Sikkim. It was very difficult to get the goals [against United Sikkim]," Dias confessed. "After scoring also, we did not play our normal game. It looked like we played under pressure, but we got three points and that is more important."

Further explaining about Churchill Brothers' 3-1 come-back win against Pailan Arrows, Dias said, "The match is not over until the referee blows the final whistle. So even if you are down by one or two goals, you have to put on efforts to come back in the game.

"Henri [Antchouet]'s inclusion made all the difference. Actually, we had planned it like that - for him to come in the second half, so that really worked. We're trying to give equal starts as both [Antchouet and Akram Moghrabi] are good," he added.

"We had a plan to take three points from them, immaterial of goals, and it happened. The boys really gave their best in the second half," Dias concluded.
