AIFF to initiate disciplinary action against East Bengal official for derogatory remarks
Following his statement in the aftermath of the Indian FA revoking Mohun Bagan’s ban, Kalyan Majumdar is set to face the music…
East Bengal general secretary Kalyan Majumdar shall face the storm following his controversial allegation on the All India Football Federation (AIFF) being involved in “under-table dealings” to rescind the ban on Mohun Bagan.
"I want to know what had happened. I doubt and feel that there must be some under-table dealings. It's very sad yet true that Indian football is going to the nadir under the current dispensation of the AIFF,” Majumdar said on Tuesday.
The Indian FA have taken a strong exception to the remarks made by Majumdar and questioned the intent of the East Bengal official.
“The All India Football Federation is extremely concerned and surprised by the statements made by Mr. Kalyan Mazumder, the general secretary of East Bengal Club in the Media. It appears that serious aspersions and imputations have been made against All India Football Federation and its officials directly and by innuendo by Mr. Kalyan Mazumder, inter alia, to the extent that the decision of the Executive Committee in respect of and arising out of Reference by Mohun Bagan was obtained through under hand and/and or under the Table modus.
“Such aspersions have been made through Print Media publications with clear intent to denigrate and defame All India Football Federation and its responsible Office Bearers which would cause damage and serious prejudice to the reputation, image, credibility and goodwill of the AIFF,” said a press statement from the Indian FA.
The AIFF are to take serious action against Majumdar for having breached its Code of Ethics and the Disciplinary Code for the clubs.
“The AIFF has taken serious note of the above uncalled for and malicious defamatory statements, which are in clear breach of the AIFF Disciplinary Code as well as the AIFF Code of Ethics and accordingly necessary actions is being initiated against Mr. Mazumder, the general secretary of East Bengal club,” the release further stated.
