Shillong Lajong held Dempo SC to a 0-0 draw at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong, in an I-League encounter on Sunday.
The goal-less draw means that both the sides have now seen more than 270 minutes of I-League action, without finding the back of the net.
The game started promisingly though, for the Reds, as they controlled possession and looked the likelier of the two sides to score a goal. However they were too indecisive in front of goal, and let a couple of half chances pass.
Samir Naik had one of the better chances for the visitors, but failed to hit the target in the 15th minute.
Lalchuanmawia then put in a teasing cross that Gbeneme Friday should have connected with in a more confident manner.
The referee blew the half-time whistle with nothing separating the two sides as they headed into the tunnel.
The second half passed off more sedately than the first, as the two coaches chopped and changed their eleven in a bid to impact the result.
While Desmond Bulpin threw in the experience of Renedy Singh and youthful exuberance of Jacob, Joy Ferrao and Nicholas Borges joined the fray for Dempo as the second half progressed.
Renedy almost made an immediate impact, but his effort was just off target, much to the anguish of the gifted midfielder.
Colaco’s side finished the stronger of the two sides, as they had a flurry of chances towards the end, as they pushed forward to halt their recent slide.
However the Lajong defense held firm, as eventually the referee bought the game to a close.
Dempo are now subsequently in 4th position on the table, 7 point off the top, while Shillong Lajong move to 11th in the standings, displacing Salgaocar FC.
