Mariano Dias was pleased to see his side be the league leaders at the end of the 14th round and praised the Churchill Brothers unit for their hard work.
"The [artificial] turf, in fact, is very slow," the head coach of the club observed. "It's heavier and takes a lot of strength from the players, but scoring goals was a completely different story."
After Steven Dias opened the scoring in the 40th minute, the Red Machines got goals in quick successions through Henri Antchouet (42'), Ajay Singh (55') and Akram Moghrabi (66', 73') until Roberto Silva provided the icing to the cake with an injury time (91+3') strike.
"We scored the first goal and immediately we got the second goal after two minutes. From that time the boys started getting confidence and they scored more and more," explained Dias.
"It took us 20 minutes to settle down. Till then, Lajong was attacking and putting pressure on us. 6-0 is quite a big score in the end and the boys really played well.
"We were actually waiting for the first goal. When we got the first goal eventually we got the momentum on our side and kept on scoring."
Churchill Brothers hence, having scored 32 goals, see themselves surpass Prayag United (29) in the goalscoring segment. The Goans will play hosts to Pailan Arrows on Wednesday in a round 15 I-League encounter.
