The 29-year old striker was in the news for his outburst on Twitter against Dempo coach Armando Colaco and will be leaving the club....
The former Arsenal and Tottenham striker was served with a 48-hour suspension notice in which he was to explain his outburst and also tender an apology to the coach and club. Ricketts met the club chairman Srinivas Dempo on Monday and agreed that his relationship with Colaco was now beyond repair.
The 29-year old met the chairman twice in the last couple of days and explained his position. "He got a patient hearing but in the end Ricketts felt his mind is not up to the Dempo challenge. He did not feel like continuing especially after his now much-publicized fall out with the coach," a source at the club told The Times of India.
Armando Colaco too had voiced his opinion about the striker after the game against Mumbai FC.
"I have been with Dempo from the start and have been with 3 generation of Dempo’s and they know who I am. So if a guy comes and says rubbish about me, then it is unwarranted. Football should be the winner," the 59-year old coach was quoted saying.
Dempo are all too keen to let go of the striker who had tweeted continuously about how he felt threatened when a fan left an incriminating note on his car and also punctured it. A compensation package is believed to be worked out within the next couple of days. It is not sure whether the club will look for an immediate replacement for Ricketts.
