The meeting has been postponed in light of Mohun Bagan's recent appeal to the AIFF to review the decision to ban them. The I-League Core Committee meeting that was to be held on January 9, 2013 has now been deferred to a later date, the details of which are still unknown. This decision comes after Mohun Bagan’s appeal to the All India Football Federation (AIFF) Executive Committee on Monday to review the suspension order served against the club till the 2014-15 season for violation of I-League regulations during the Kolkata Derby on December 9, 2012.
"Normally, a review tends to defer these kind of meetings. Besides, on our part, we had made ourselves very clear and had categorically mentioned all the relevant points to serve our purpose," said a Bagan official to The Telegraph.
At the Core Committee meeting, Mohun Bagan are expected to put forth their case with regards to amount of compensation, extension of the suspension, and additional sanctions and fines, if any.
A fresh date for the meeting is expected to be finalised soon.
Meanwhile, the Kolkata club maintain that they are yet to receive anything in writing from the AIFF regarding the issue of showcause notice given to their Nigerian striker Okolie Odafa.
The Nigerian was reprimanded for misbehaviour with referee Vishnu Chauhan during the December 9 I-League Derby, which led to his marching orders, apart from inciting the crowd that had resulted in lathi charge by the police and the game not going beyond the first half.
"We are yet to receive anything in writing as far as the showcause is concerned. We are keeping a track on everything and will act in due course of time," the Bagan official said.
