East Bengal skipper Mehtab Hussain: We have to win against Prayag United at any cost
The experienced midfielder has highlighted the importance of the game against fellow Kolkata side and added that his team will need to be at their best to register three points...
East Bengal are to face Prayag United at the Salt Lake Stadium this Sunday and Mehtab Hussain believes that there will be little room for error against Eelco Schattorie’s men.
Prayag United have picked just a point from a possible 12 in their last four league fixtures however Mehtab pointed at the quality they possess in their squad.
“Prayag United are a good team as they have good players in every position. It will be a tough game. We will have to work hard to win this game, “he told East Bengal TV.
On the other hand, East Bengal are the only unbeaten side in the league and have conceded just a single goal so far and will face a side who have scored the maximum (27) goals.
“We are confident of the tie but aren’t overconfident. Obviously we will have to work hard as this team has a lot of quality players. We will have to stick to our own style of play. There is no room for silly mistakes in this game,” he mentioned.
Mehtab explained that should East Bengal win against Prayag on Sunday, they shall continue to mount pressure of defending champions, Dempo SC.
“Thanks to Almighty, we do not have any injury. This game is very important and we have to win this at any cost. The reason being if we win, we will be close to the top of the table and remain in contention for the title,” he concluded.
