East Bengal’s Trevor Morgan: We are a difficult side to play against

The Englishman has exuded confidence in his side as he believes that they aren’t an easy side to play against for other teams…

Ahead of the Kolkata derby against Prayag United, East Bengal coach Trevor Morgan stated that Sundays tie is important as he hopes to close the gap with Dempo SC and thereby keep moutning pressure on them.

“We are always confident. We always believe that we can win games. As I said, the players are playing well; we are defending well at the moment. We are a difficult side to play against.  We know the importance of this game as we need to keep the pressure on the team that are the top (Dempo) and keep ourselves up there,” said Morgan to East Bengal TV.

The good news for East Bengal is that Sanju Pradhan is back in training and will be available for selection. Morgan mentioned that his side will not approach the game against Prayag in a different manner than the rest.

“We will just go and play our game. We are playing well at the moment. Our players are looking forward to the game,” he said.

Morgan did acknowledge that Prayag have amassed a set of start players over the summer and are a dangerous side on any given day though they are undergoing a transition.

“They (Prayag) are going through a transitional phase at the moment.  They started the season not too badly in the I-League and parted ways with the coach (Sanjoy Sen) and the new coach (Eelco Schattorie) has come in.  And obviously it will take time for him to get the way he wants to play to the players.

“Prayag have got good players in the summer, they bought in some experienced Indian internationals in the goalkeeper, the centre-back (Gouramangi) and of course, Ranti Martins and Carlos Hernandez. So they are a very dangerous side,” he observed.
