The English manager has hit out at the lack of quality players at the Goan club and hopes for some big names in the January transfer window...
"There's a problem in the fact that we (Salgaocar) have only got two strikers at the club. There's a problem in the fact that we have only got three central midfielder players in the club," said the head coach of the club.
The 64-year-old continued: "The problem is that we (Salgaocar) don't have a big enough nucleus of players who are experienced at an I-League level of playing."
Will we be expecting Salgaocar to rope in some big names in the January transfer window? "I hope so," Booth replied. "We need players capable of playing at the I-League level and players capable of bringing the team up. So now we have to decide how to do this," he added.
Booth, who doesn't necessarily seem happy with the club's transfer signings which were made under former coach Karim Bencherifa, went on to rue the lack of "I-League material" players of his side.
"We (Salgaocar) have got 41 players. I've come in to a club which has 41 players and probably only 15 are I-League material," he lamented. "So you can read in to it however you like. You look to play your first 11 and when you look to your bench, the bench strength - where is it?"
With the club facing injury concerns to the likes of Francis Fernandes, who has been a consistent performer, Booth urged the entire available squad to give their best.
"One man is not going to change it all. The whole club has to dig in deep now and the first thing is to make sure that we don't get beaten. We've got to start thinking now we got to stop giving goals away, stop getting beaten and then tough it out from there," he concluded.
