Arthur Papas blames poor scheduling and internal issues for his side's defeat to Churchill Brothers and believes early goals shifted the momentum.

After Pailan Arrows 3-0 home defeat to Churchill Brothers on Monday at the Salt Lake Stadium, Arthur Papas was not happy even before the game kicked-off.

"I was not happy even before kick-off as our scheduling was way off. The players reported late for training. There were a lot of internal issues. So it was no surprise we lost today," said the Pailan Arrows coach.

It was poor start for the home side as Bineeh Balan scored in the third minute and put Churchill Brothers in command to set the tone for the game. Papas pointed that early goals shifted the momentum but mentioned that the Goan side were restricted by his team.

"We conceded just after 2 and a half minutes. That really set us back. We also conceded early in the second half as well."

"Overall, I thought we played pretty well. I think the core group of foreigners in Churchill are the best in the world. Especially with Bilal (Najjarine) not playing, they could play one more up front. We did well to prevent them from playing. Besides the opening goal and Beto's fine shot, I think we restricted them well. Conceding a goal from a corner and that free-kick was due to a lapse in concentration which should have been avoided," he explained.

Papas was also present as a spectator at the Salt Lake Stadium on Sunday for the high profile Kolkata derby which was marred by hooliganism. He opined that misbehaviour by the fans happens elsewhere too and added that he had witnessed one earlier when Australia faced Iran in a World Cup Qualifier where 97,000 people had turned up.

On the other hand, Churchill Brothers manager Mariano Dias praised his side's display in their 3-0 win over an inexperienced Pailan Arrows side.

"I think the early goal really helped us to settle in either half. Beto played really well and was our star performer of the day. I think Pailan are a good team and they played good football. Experience is what counted today. We are an experienced bunch and that helped us capitalise against an inexperienced side like Arrows," he said.
