With the first ever North Eastern derby of the I-League ending in a dull 0-0 draw, Shillong Lajong manager Desmond Bulpin stated that it was a hard earned point for his side.
“It’s a hard place to come to and getting a draw away from home was a good result for our side," quipped the experienced manager when asked as to how he felt on getting a point frim a dull game.
Although Shillong were the better team in the second half, it was a fair result in all probabilities. Both teams had good defensive work rate which was proved by the lack of goals at either ends.
"It’s a nice place to come to, a wonderful fixture for the fans. The ground is good and as expected a hard fought game.”
The general attacking play of Shillong Lajong today meant pumping up the ball to their two strikers, Sushil Singh and Gbeneme Friday, which according to Bulpin “was countered very well by the young centre-back (Abhishek Das)."
Bulpin was indeed impressed by the stubbornness shown by his side on the field to snatch away a vital and first away point of the season.
