Eelco Schattorie was a resigned man after the defeat, but said that the performance by his boys was an improvement from the last round defeat against Churchill Brothers. However he stressed on the fact that individual mistakes seemed to cost him yet again as his team slumped to a second defeat on the row.
"I think the performance was vastly improved today as compared to the past match. However they got two goals out of nothing, from two set pieces. And the last goal as you all saw was again down to an individual error, about which I can do nothing."
Schattorie's broad observation regarding Indian football was pretty damning as he said that tactics played second fiddle to individual errors.
"What I have seen so far in all matches of the I-League and not only my team is that here matches are hardly decided on tactics. It's individual errors that ultimately decide the tie. Look at the last match in Goa where an error from a Salgaocar player allowed Dempo to capitalize and score the first goal in the match."
The Dutch coach took time out however, to praise the dedication and work ethic of Carlos Hernandez who was back in the squad.
"I think Carlos played really well today. He had some great touches and moreoever he worked really hard and put in a great shift. I am really happy with Carlos' display. I have no complaints," he mentioned.
While conceding the fact that his team needs to work on defending set pieces, Eelco was candid enough to accept that he had started some routines in training but with so many back-to-back matches, he clearly needed time.
"As I said before about 40-50% of all goals are scored from set pieces due to a momentary lapse in concentration. We gave away cheap fouls and out of nothing we conceded two goals. They got a big striker (Abhishek Yadav) in the match and with his first touch he scored the goal. We are trying to work on our set piece defending but this will certainly take time, especially due to the packed schedule where we hardly have any time before matches."
The Prayag head coach reiterated that he was there to win the championship and two defeats would not certainly unfaze him. He would be back looking for a win in a friendly match the very next day.
"I have a friendly match on Monday and I will look forward to that. I have come to make Prayag champion and that will still remain my target as I will look to go out and win the next match against Dempo."
