The Kolkata giants will face their local rivals Mohun Bagan in the traditional Kolkata Derby on December 9 and have pulled out all stops to make the occasion a memorable one.
However, this time the Red and Golds have planned something a little extra to add to the excitement that only a derby can bring. According to The Hindustan Times, the club is planning to invite 500 school children for the event. A lottery will be held before kickoff and the winner will earn an all-expense paid trip with the East Bengal team for an away match.
In addition, 10 lucky winners of the lottery will earn the right to pose for a photo with any East Bengal player of their choice. To add to the stadium atmosphere, cutouts of former East Bengal greats Dhanraj, Appa Rao, Ahmed Khan, PBA Saleh, and Venkatesh will be put up at the stadium along with those of former general secretaries Dr. Nripen Das, Suresh Chowdhury, Jyothish Guha and Paltu Das.
At a media conference on Wednesday, it was announced that medical camps will be set up at four gates of the Salt Lake Stadium. It was also announced that 40 footballs signed by coach Trevor Morgan and the players will be distributed among the spectators on match-day.
