Salgaocar FC went down by 3 goals to Mohun Bagan at the Salt Lake Stadium in what was coach David Booth's second defeat in a row after taking charge, after narrowly losing out to Churchill Brothers last week.

Booth did not hesitate to accept that his team were certainly not upto the mark for the contest against The Mariners. He also conceded that his team could have easily conceded three more goals.

"There was some confusion among the players. We were certainly not upto the mark. The end result could have been a lot worse," said Booth.

On being asked whether the players needed time to adapt to his style of management after being under Karim Bencherifa for about two years, Booth dismissed the claim saying that coaches only can do so much, as there is hardly a massive difference between anyone's style.

"I do not have a magic wand. Even if a new coach comes in, there should not be huge problems in adapting," he mentioned.

Booth said that conceding a goal in the first five minutes really muddled up their game plan and it was all downhill from then on, as they gave yet another sloppy goal before twenty minutes had passed.

"We talked about trying to settle in the first twenty minutes to assess the situation. The quick goal we conceded really shook us up. And before long, we conceded another. Then we had no other option but to attack and left too much space in defense."

On being asked why he took off Sean Rooney early in the second half, Booth said that although it was a tactical substitution, the Australian had a hamstring injury in midweek and it was only a day before that he was declared fit to play.

"Sean had a hamstring injury midweek and was declared fit to play only yesterday. However I took him off as I wanted to go to a two-striker strategy. Overall even though we lost against Churchill last time around, you thought we were much much better there," he signed off.
