I-League team of the round 2 - Nishiguchi and Moghrabi star upfront

Goal.com summarizes all the action of the I-League and selects a team from the best performers of round 2...

Matchday 2 has barely passed, and the I-League has already suffered its first managerial casualty, with Santosh Kashyap parting ways with the Mariners. This came to pass after his side slumped to a 2-1 against Prayag United in the Kolkatan derby, with the fans making clear their discontent with the plight of the club.

Trevor Morgan must have meanwhile breathed a sigh of relief himself, with substitute Lalrindika Ralte’s late strike helping East Bengal edge past United Sikkim 1-0.

The Pailan Arrows now have as many wins this season, as they managed in the whole of last campaign, with Arthur Papas’ side beating Air India 2-1, to climb to 4th in the table.

Pune FC won the bragging rights in the “Maha Derby”, as they managed to get the better of Mumbai FC. A topsy turvy, entertaining and controversy strewn game ended 3-2 in the favour of the Red Lizards.

After having failed to capitalize on their dominance against Dempo SC on matchday 1, Churchill Brothers put ONGC to the sword this gameweek. Bibek Bhowmick’s side were on the receiving end of a 5-0 thrashing, with the Goans in a ruthless mood.

Dempo SC though showed they could also score goals for fun, dispatching off Sporting Clube de Goa 5-0 in a Goan derby. The comprehensive win saw Armando Colaco’s side climb to the top of the table.

Salgaocar meanwhile failed to hold on to a lead for the second gameweek in a row, as Shillong Lajong did well to comeback from a goal down, before managing a creditable 1-1 draw.
