Elvis Gomes is optimistic that Vasco's Tilak Maidan will be ready by the end of next month while refuting claims of security concerns raised by Goan I-League clubs over the venueThe Sports Authority of Goa (SAG) Executive Director, Elvis Gomes hopes that Vasco's Tilak Maidan will be ready to host the Goan I-League clubs' home matches by November end this year.
It was earlier proposed that the first two rounds of the I-League for Churchill Brothers SC, Dempo SC, Salgaocar FC and Sporting Clube de Goa's home fixtures be held at the Nehru stadium, Fatorda.
The decision on where the third round of I-League matches for the above mentioned clubs are to be played was yet to be taken, given that Tilak Maidan is yet to meet the criteria for hosting matches.
"We have already committed for the [I-League] round three matches to be held at the Fatorda stadium," Gomes informed Goal.com.
"By end of November, we should be in a position to start [at Vasco]," he said, preferring to not provide any particular time frame or round from when the Tilak Maidan will be available to host I-League matches in Goa.

The SAG official further refuted to claims made by the Goan clubs over security concerns over Vasco's Tilak Maidan. "I don't know what the clubs are talking," he said.
He continued: "As far as I am concerned, when I had meetings with the [four Goan I-League] clubs, we have discussed the issues and they have agreed."
Regarding the club officials' claims that the stands at the Tilak Maidan in Vasco are "very close" to the playing pitch, Gomes replied, "So many grounds abroad are like that. And what about Duler [stadium], ask me."
He went on to state, "In fact, Fatorda is not at all conducive to proper viewing of football. See the distance between the field of play and the seating.
"The issue is that the [Lusofonia] Games will be held in Goa. If Tilak [Maidan] is not yet ready, then we will see that somehow this ground (Fatorda stadium) continues in a mutual agreement because both are SAG grounds," he concluded.
Churchill Brothers will be hosting ONGC FC on 11 October, while Sporting Clube de Goa are set to face Dempo SC on 12 October, with both matches scheduled to be played at the Fatorda stadium with a kick-off time of 1900 IST.
