Akram will have to work harder to get into the first eleven - Churchill Brothers' Mariano Dias

The Red Machines head coach felt that the Lebanese international would need to put in a lot more effort to slot into the team...
Churchill Brothers SC coach Mariano Dias opined that Akram Moghrabi needs to work a lot harder in order to impress the technical team and earn a berth in the starting eleven. He went on to heap praise on Bilal Najjarin, the Lebanese centre-back, who has impressed with his performances in the Federation Cup.

"Bilal has adapted well to the team," said Dias, "But Akram will have to work harder to combine with the other forwards in the team," he continued.

Speaking about Churchill's 2-1 loss to Dempo SC on the opening day of the season, he sounded positive about his team's performance.

"We played very well," he claimed. "In fact, we created a lot of chances, but could score only one. We could have won the game by three goals. But luck was not in our favour."

Dempo had fewer shots on goal, but were far more clinical. Mariano pointed at the defensive errors being the reasons which led to the two goals scored by Dempo.

"Especially Sueoka's second goal, it was a good one but it was also a defensive lapse," he admitted. "Our defence was not alert," he said.

Churchill had dominated for much of the game and could have easily changed the game, had it not been for two point blank saves from Dempo keeper Subhashish Roychowdhury.

"As far as performance in the game is concerned, we played very well, but again it comes down to luck," he rued. "At least a draw would would have been a good result," he added.
