The Manipuri coach admits that his side have had a bad start and hopes that the Goan outfit fares better in the rest of the season...
Keita Boubacar, Kalu Ogba Nnanna and recently signed Bong Bertrand make up the three foreigners currently registered with Sporting who currently have a Japanese striker Seiya Sugishita on trials.
"He (Seiya Sugishita) is under trials now. But before the start of the season, we are sure to complete the quota of our four foreigners," Singh said during a press meet conducted by the Sports Journalist Association of Goa (SJAG).
"In my team (Sporting), we have retained two foreigners (Boubacar and Kalu) who will lead and guide the team in the defence and midfield. Likewise, the local players will also work cohensively as a unit," he added.
The Flaming Oranje have had disappointing start to their season as they were knocked out of Durand and Federation Cups from the group stage itself.
"We played in the Durand Cup where we won against ONGC and lost to Assam Riffles. The ground at the Federation Cup was in bad shape. In one of our matches, the ball got stuck inside a water puddle in the ground," he reasoned.
"Yes, I accept that our two previous tournaments have been very disappointing, but we hope to do better in the remaining season," he added.
Ekendra Singh further stated that all the I-League matches will be equally tough and hopes that his side gives a good account of themselves.
"All the I-League clubs are tough. Every game is important for us. We are sure to take the advantage of playing on the home ground and crowd in our first match [against East Bengal].
"We have always tried our best to win everything, but sometimes football is like this. According to the time and circumstances, we are sure to define our strategy and try our best to do well in each game."
Sporting Clube de Goa will play their season opener against East Bengal at the Fatorda stadium in Margao on Sunday, 7 October 2012.
