Manuel Gomes likely to quit Churchill Brothers SC
The Portuguese coach looks certain to put in his papers after being lambasted by the club owners in a recent showdown…
By Rahul Bali
Churchill Brothers have only themselves to blame as to why they aren’t on top of the I-League given that each time they had the opportunity to go ahead or even come closer to their rivals Dempo SC, they let it slip casually.
However the club owners have put the onus on coach Manuel Gomes for failing to guide the team through stressful situations and ensuring that the team wins eventually.
After it was reported in the media of the coach being held responsible for a few negative results in the presence of the squad by the club’s who’s who, Gomes is embarrassed and frustrated given that several of his powers have been taken away from him, something which a Churchill Brothers coach ought to expect at some point of the season any ways.
Gomes was absent from the final training session a day before their match against HAL in Goa and that could be the signal of the coach not wanting to continue.
Whether the Portuguese decides to stay with Churchill Brothers or not remains to be seen.
