Goal.com summarizes all the action of the I-League and selects a team from the best performers of round 18.......
By Ayush Srivastava
I-League turn 18 turned out to be a round of cleansheets, with four of the winners proving to be too difficult to breakdown while Pailan Arrows and Salgaocar SC played out a goalless draw.
The most entertaining game of this matchweek was definitely the one between Sporting Clube de Goa and Pune FC, where somehow the visitors let slip a commanding lead and with it their eleven match unbeaten streak, slumping to a 4-2 loss to the Flaming Orange.
Mohun Bagan tuned up for their highly anticipated clash against East Bengal by making heavy weather of getting past a relegation threatened Chirag United Kerala side, before finally prevailing 3-1.
The Red and Gold Brigade though, will head into the aforementioned derby clash after having lost in another Kolkata derby against Prayag United, as they got caught out cold on a counter-attack deep into injury time to lose 1-0 to Sanjoy Sen’s men.
Shillong Lajong gave their faithful supporters much to cheer about, as they wrapped up their first away win of the season against HAL Bangalore with a 1-0 scoreline.
Mumbai FC came up with a spirited showing, but lost out during key moments, as a Ranti Martins brace sealed their fate.
Their Mumbai rivals Air India fared no better, as they too lost against title chasing Churchill Brothers 1-0 at the Balewadi sports complex.
Pailan Arrows and Salgaocar SC, as mentioned above, played out a drab 0-0 draw, which put most people watching the match to sleep.
