Having slumped to a 2-0 loss to Chirag United Kerala, Mumbai FC are looking nervously behind their shoulders as Khalid Jamil’s side are now just three points ahead of the Kerala-based side who are in the relegation zone.
Mumbai FC’s coach Khalid Jamil was dismissive of his team’s effort in the tie against Nizam Packeer Ali’s side in Pune and stated, “I don’t have to say much really. We played badly and were not upto the mark.”
Looking back at the crucial events of the match, the former India international said, “Our problems were not only limited to our defence. Whatever we tried upfront too didn’t work. They scored early in each half and we just couldn’t mount a comeback after such a setback.”
Speaking about their opponent’s gameplan, the young coach mentioned, “They played to win and with great determination. Needless to say, they deserved all three points.”
The thirty four year old though, felt that there is a long way to go before his team can be termed as being involved in a relegation fight. He pointed out, “It is too early to say if we are in the fight for survival. The season is really long and anything can happen.”
The Mumbai based club’s next match is against HAL at Bangalore.
