The Indian international shall play his trade in Kolkata for another season in the I-League…Sunil Chhetri ended all speculation regarding his future as he penned a yearlong deal with Mohun Bagan hoping to add further to the attacking dimension of the club who have already roped in the most expensive player in the I-League in Odafa Okolie.
It must be remembered that the Delhi based star had spent three years at the club earlier in his career where the club didn’t have a successful time.
“Yes, he has signed for us for a year,” confirmed Anjan Mitra, general secretary of Mohun Bagan.
Chhetri has so far featured for five clubs in India, namely Mohun Bagan, JCT, East Bengal, Dempo SC and Chirag United.
The Green and Maroons now possess an enviable strike force in Odafa, Chhetri and Jose Barreto which would strike fear in the hearts of the opposition in the upcoming season.
It will be interesting to see how new coach Steve Darby uses the trio as each of the three players is too big to sit on a bench.
